Care for Senior Cat

GCC's Senior Care Package

June 17, 20232 min read

Just like us, older cats are more prone to experiencing health issues compared to the younger ones. As cats age, their physical well-being may gradually deteriorate. Our Senior Care Package is designed to assist you in providing the best care for your beloved pet. This comprehensive service aims to identify and address any potential diseases or ailments before they become severe, helping your cat stays happy and healthy.

GCC's Senior Care Package

As our cats grow older, they begin to slow down and not play as much. They may change their eating habits or sleep much longer. But when are these changes something to be concerned about?

Typically, when felines get to be around 8 years old, many diseases may start to show up. Some of these may include hyperthyroidism, diabetes, kidney disease, or even cancer. While these are all treatable, it is very important to catch them early.

Changes to look for...

Your cats habits won’t change overnight, but these are the notable changes to look for:

  • Drinking excessive amounts of water

  • Excessive eating but not gaining weight

  • Losing weight

  • Pooping/Peeing outside the litter box

  • Meowing uncharacteristically

If you notice anything weird about your senior,  here are some things a senior kitty may need.

Caring for your senior cat

Like humans, older cats are more likely to encounter health problems than younger ones. A senior cat's physical condition can progressively decline as they age. We can help you take care of your pet with our Senior Care Package. This service can help detect and treat disease in your pets before the problem becomes debilitating.

What's Included

Our Senior Care Package includes the following:

  1. A Comprehensive Exam- We will address any issues and do a full physical. We always check your cats eyes, mouth, and blood pressure as they are all good indicators of disease.

  2. Full Panel Bloodwork will check the vital organs for any problems.

  3. Urinalysis to check for cystitis or crystals in the urine.

  4. 5 Views of Xrays to search for any lumps of signs of heart disease.

  5. Abdominal Ultrasound to scan for anything the Xrays cannot see.

This would be a full diagnostic designed to dig deep and make sure your senior is healthy. Some of the above are optional and may not be necessary in certain cases.
